Can’t Keep A Good Man Down

Can’t Keep A Good Man Down

At first glance, you might think Caleb is cleaning this toilet. If you look closer, you will see that he is actually sprawled on top of the toilet because he fell asleep here, and we had just woken him. Throwing up every 15-20 minutes ALL NIGHT LONG when you should be sound asleep will do that to you.

He was one of the first. Here, Jeff is camped out in front of the bathroom right after he was struck.

What I love about these two is that they accepted getting sick. There was no complaining at all. In fact, our team jokes about how it happened for Jeff. He was hanging out with everyone and then said, “Well, it looks like I’m about to join the ranks!” He grabbed a bag, walked toward our room and… well, he joined. I heard him, so I peeked out of our bedroom and he WAVED AT ME while throwing up. I had to laugh! He then got a mattress and decided to camp out in front of the bathroom. 26 out of our 29 teammates got this violent, nasty stomach bug.

One thing I’ve learned about going to different countries is that there’s a high probability you’ll get sick. It’s not fun, but it’s possible to have a good attitude while throwing up. It’s even possible to laugh about it. Cheers to the oldest and youngest Swan boys.

  1. I love this. It reminds me of our Tanner in a similar situation. God bless them and all of you, we are praying for you all!

  2. Honestly, I enjoy getting sick. I know that sounds weird, but it is refreshing to be reminded of what my normal is NOT. Some people live with chronic pain and disease…I only have to suffer through it once every year or so! Sounds like these guys have a similar approach 😀 Still, getting sick while traveling double-sucks! They’re troopers!
